Winter in South Lake Tahoe means snowboarding, skiing and snowmobiling and award-winning Heavenly Ski Resort offers some of the steepest, deepest and most scenic runs in the West. With over 4,800 acres, an average annual snowfall of 360 inches, 91 trails, a 5.5 mile mountain descent and 30 lifts of various types, this is California's largest resort.

But there is more to Heavenly than just the three "s's" - if you take the Gondola up the mountain all the way to the top, you can head to Adventure Peak for a fantastic day of mountain adventure. Of course the ride up the mountainside is the first part of the adventure, with the Peak home to snow tubing, cross-country skiing, sledding, a 25-foot rock climbing wall and even snowshoeing. And the view from the top is breathtaking - looking down on the sparkling lake that is surrounded by alpine forests and snow covered mountains - it truly is one of nature's wonders.

Heavenly Ski Resort also offers childcare facilities, children's ski programs and complimentary shuttle bus service from South Shore's hotels. It's a wonderful place to take the entire family from children to aunties and uncles and grandparents. There is something for everyone to do while there, whether snow related or pulling the handle of a slot machine. For those not inclined to challenge the mountain, one can always sit by a fireplace, sipping a hot toddy, watching the skiers come down the mountain, or spend time in a casino watching the 7's go round and round.
