The Big White Ski Resort is rated by Ski Canada Magazine as the Best Resort Feature for Kids in Canada and even the London Daily Mail rated it one of the top five ski resorts in the world, as well as North America's Best Family Resort. The Village's main street is actually a ski run, where guests can ski through to their hotel or condo, or stop off in the charming and colorful village to grab something to eat, shop or just wander around.
There are three hotels in Big White with a wide choice of room type, from standard to standard with kitchenette, sleeping up to two and the 1 bedroom, sleeping up to four. Chateau Big White has 42 boutique-style rooms with fireplaces and a rooftop outdoor Jacuzzi. The Inn at Big White has 100 rooms with fireplaces, great views of the Monashee Mountains, heated outdoor pool and Jacuzzi. The White Crystal Inn has 48 rooms, fireplaces, large bathrooms and a small cooking area.
There are seven condominiums at Big White which feature budget units, kitchenettes studios and 1 to 4 bedrooms, sleeping anywhere from two to six guests. The most basic includes Cable TV, VCR and telephone, with more amenities added for the 1 to 4 bedrooms. They are all ski-in, ski-out properties and all are an exceptional value.
If you want to splurge, Big White offers premium properties, including beautiful private cabins, with log exteriors, river rock fireplaces, custom made furniture, most with your own private hot tub, sleeping from two to six guests. Then there are the 1, 2 & 3 Bedroom Executive and Premium Plus, all featuring the addition of a loft or den, full kitchens, fireplace, VCR, Cable TV and phone.
There is a Ski Dazzle shop at Big White also, located on the main floor of the Village Centre Mall, with a wide variety of ski equipment and ski wear. You can also rent any equipment you might need at the Mall. The Village Rider has everything for snowboarders, from boards, boots and bindings to fashion, also in the Mall. If you're looking for authentic Canadian souvenirs and gifts, be sure to visit both The Company Store and the Down Under Gift Shop. And, of course, like Silver Star, Big White also has the wonderful Pooh's and Bean's candy store, definitely worth a visit.
Big White has a wide variety of dining options, from casual to elegant and from extremely inexpensive to moderately high. Snowshoe Sam's is an award winning restaurant that packs them in on the weekends so reservations are a must. Serving great pub fare but famous for their steak and chops, don't miss their Gunbarrel Coffee show.
You need to ride a gondola to Happy Valley to dine at The Kettle Valley Steakhouse and Wine Bar, featuring not only great steaks, but great local wine. Coltino's Ribs and Steakhouse offers ribs, chicken and steak in a friendly family environment, featuring Italian and North American dining. Swiss Bear is famous for their fondues and European cuisine and The Copper Kettle Grille is considered Big White's premiere fine dining spot. Located in the White Crystal Inn, the restaurant specializes in simply wonderful Canadian cuisine.
Other dining spots include Bean's for great coffee, soup and sandwiches; the family friendly Loose Moose Café and Pub with extensive kid's menu and Carvers, serving breakfast, lunch & dinner daily. Fun and casual with an extensive Western & international menu, located at the Inn At Big White. The Underground Pizzeria, in the Mall will deliver; the Big White Bakery, which bakes fresh artisan bread, pastries and desserts; Ridge Rocket Café serving good fast food, including breakfast, burgers, salads and more; Gem Lake Café in the Westridge Warming Hut serving great coffee, fresh sandwiches and baked goods; Franks Chinese Laundry Restaurant with a wonderful lunch buffet; The Soup Stone Café & Bistro for hand crafted soups and panini sandwiches and the Powder Keg Lounge featuring Greek delicacies.
This, like Silver Star, is a great family & friends resort with a myriad of winter sports offered, family entertainment nightly with movies, bingo, theme dinners, fireworks, skate parties and even bonfires to sit by while sipping some hot chocolate. Best of all worlds, with fresh crisp air, boarding down the mountain, breathtaking scenery and lots of time with your family and friends - could it possibly get any better?
