Hawaii Superferry
The Hawaii Superferry is the newest choice in inter-island travel and provides a wonderful alternative to flying. Inspired by the double-hulled canoes once employed by ancient Polynesian seafarers, the Superferry is a form of travel both efficient and environmentally friendly, providing an enjoyable ride with the most up-to-date-technologies and modern comforts. The catamaran-style Superferry seeks to renew Hawaii’s maritime highways and breathe new life into its oceangoing spirit.
A notable feature of this new form of inter-island travel is the ability to bring your vehicle aboard. Just drive your car onto the ship when you arrive and park it in the safety of one of the two vehicle decks on the Superferry; upon disembarkation, simply drive off. Instead of being limited by the baggage restrictions of the airlines, you can bring almost anything over to the neighbor islands; your only limit is the storage capacity of your car! In consideration of Hawaii’s small and medium-sized business, the Superferry’s vehicle decks can also accommodate large commercial trucks and vans and even provides power outlets for refrigerated produce and dairy trucks at no extra charge.
Your Superferry onboard experience will be comparable to a casual, relaxing Hawaiian cruise. Floor-to-ceiling windows offer sweeping, panoramic views of the surrounding ocean and the beautiful shores of the neighbor islands. Enjoy these pleasant vistas from your seat or stroll through the spacious passenger cabin and mingle with other guests. In addition to conventional seating arrangements, the Superferry includes family-style seating with leather sofas and coffee tables. The three main sections of the passenger deck feature flat-screen televisions offering safety videos, movies, live TV and educational programming. If a more personal viewing experience is preferred, rent a digEplayer and choose any seat or freely move about while enjoying a customized selection of entertainment. The Manta Cove is the Superferry’s dedicated play area for kids. Young children will enjoy special movies and activities, while older kids will be enthralled by the gaming arcade, featuring family-friendly electronic entertainment. The Calabash Store is the Superferry’s onboard gift shop and sells a wide variety of locally made products. Don’t forget to pick up a Superferry t-shirt to commemorate your voyage.

Important Travel Information
- It is recommended that you arrive at the port at least 90 minutes prior to your departure time.
- Entrance to the terminal will promptly close 30 minutes prior to departure; you will be denied boarding if you arrive after entrances are closed
- Bring your booking confirmation and boarding passes with you on your travel date.
- Government-issued photo ID is required for all passengers 18 years of age and older and for all unaccompanied minors.
- Vehicles require the current vehicle registration and proof of valid car insurance.
- Driver of vehicle must present a valid driver’s license.
- If the registered owner of the vehicle is not traveling, an Authorized-To-Move-Vehicle form must be brought for each vehicle, signed by the vehicle owner and notarized by a notary public.
- Excessively dirty or muddy vehicles will not be permitted.
- No plants or roots are permitted except those inspected by the Hawaii Department of Agriculture.
- Domestic pets may travel in an International Air Transport Association (IATA)-approved pet kennel for a nominal fee, or in a vehicle at no charge.
- There is no parking available at or near the piers. We recommend walk-on passengers to be either dropped off or take public transportation to the ferry terminals.
- Walk-on passengers will need to check their luggage at the ticketing counter.
- All strollers must be placed on the luggage cart or inside your vehicle. No strollers are permitted on the deck for safety reasons.
- The Hawaii Superferry is wheelchair accessible; please bring your own wheelchair.
- Advice for motion sickness: Do not skip eating, but avoid spicy and greasy foods; sip water or ginger ale; stand and look at a fixed point on the horizon; avoid reading; avoid the consumption of alcohol and coffee.
- Over-the-counter medications for motion sickness can be effective if taken before or at the start of the trip.
- Please ask your Panda Travel agent about the specific rules and regulations regarding pet and vehicle transportation, restricted/prohibited items and special needs passengers.

06/04/08 - The Hawaii Superferry announced it has completed agreements with the state's major rental car companies: Hertz Rent A Car, Dollar/Thrifty Automotive Group, Alamo/National Rent A Car, Avis/Budget Group, U-Haul, Ryder and JN Car & Truck Rental, so customers can drive rental cars on and off the Alakai, which now makes daily roundtrip voyages between Maui and O'ahu.
