You can tour Shanghai, China's leading industrial and financial center. In Old Town there is the 6-foot Jade Buddha carved from a solid piece of white jade, the Art Deco architecture of European merchant buildings built in the 1930 near the Bund and exciting, fabulous Nanjing Road, the epitome of Shanghai chic.

And, of course, there is Beijing. A mix of ancient imperial architecture, vast squares, modern buildings, internet cafes, temples and shrines, it is a city of huge proportions. The Forbidden City, palace of the Ming and Qing dynasties, has 9,999 rooms and took 17 years to build. See Tiananmen Square, the world's largest public plaza and the geographic center of Beijing. It's a marvelous city with an unbelievable range of things to do and see and should not be missed.
