United Airline to Charge for First Checked Bag

United Airlines announced that they will be charging $15 each way ($30 roundtrip) for the first piece of checked baggage for any flights purchased on or after June 13, 2008 for travel on or after August 18, 2008. This new baggage fee does not apply to any passengers who have purchased flights on or before June 12 for travel from June 13 to August 17, but the $25 per way ($50 roundtrip) fee for the second piece of checked baggage will still apply.
