As its name implies, the Queen Kapiolani Hotel recalls the glory days
of the Hawaiian monarchy. Named after the Consort of the last king of
Hawaii, David Kalakaua, Queen Kapiolani was a beloved figure in Hawaiian
history. In the lobby of the Queen Kapiolani Hotel note the museum-quality paintings of
both the King and Queen along with her beautiful niece, Princess Kaiulani.
The staff is gracious and helpful and the rooms nicely decorated with
lovely views of the park, Diamond Head and the ocean.
Overlooking the 108-acre Kapiolani Park and Diamond Head Crater, the hotel is situated just one block from Waikiki Beach, one of the world's most famous stretch of sand. It is across the street from the Honolulu Zoo, well worth a stroll through and a short walk to the Waikiki Aquarium which features opened up an absolutely fascinating exhibit of jelly fish.
The location of the Queen Kapiolani Hotel is ideal for exploring the Park and the quieter
end of Waikiki Beach. If you prefer fresh water over salt, there is always
the hotel's swimming pool and sun deck located on a high floor offering
magnificent views of the surrounding area.
