Located in Restaurant Row at the beginning of downtown Honolulu, the award winning Vino has one of the very best selections of wine in the state. There are at least 20 wines by the glass, selected by Master Sommelier Chuck Furuya and it is considered the place to meet after work. The tapas-style wine bar is beautifully decorated and the murals of vineyards on the walls, brickwork and clouds on the ceiling could easily make you feel you were in Italy instead of Honolulu. The menu features small plates of Italian tapas you can share. Recommended dishes include either the Cheese or Salumi Platters, any ravioli that happens to be on the menu that evening, especially the Homemade Gnocchi in a Sage Brown Butter Sauce and the delectable Mini Veal Osso Bucco, slow braised and served in a rich veal and red wine reduction. The menu changes often, but everything is done with perfection. Wine by the glass is available in 2 and 5 ounces and there is an extensive wine list of bottles available. A full bar offers both traditional and tropical cocktails and beer. Open Wed. and Thurs. from 5:30 to 9:30 pm and Fri. and Sat. from 5:30 to 10:30 pm.
