Keo Sananikone opened Mekong I in 1977 followed by his upscale Keo's Thai Cuisine in 1981, then Mekong II in 1982. It's been described as Keo's on a budget, but both these small store front restaurants serve some of the most well known dishes of Keo's including the ever popular Evil Jungle Prince, which everyone should try at least once in their life. The Spring Rolls come complete with lettuce leaves, cucumber and mint to wrap the spring rolls in and a spicy dipping sauce. There is an extensive vegetarian menu and popular items worth a try are the Spicy Eggplant with Beef, Crispy Noodles and Boneless Bangkok Wings with Spicy dip. There are daily lunch specials that are real bargains. While the restaurants aren't as fancy as Keo's, the service is great, the food is delicious and the prices are unbelievably low. Reservations suggested. Open 11 am to 2 pm and 5 to 9:30 pm daily.
