Photo: JJ Bistro & French PastryThe chef-owner Praseuth Luangkhot is Laotian who began his career in Hawaii creating authentic French pastries that sold as fast as they were made. He then decided to expand his bakery into a Pan Asian café and now creates wonderful dishes at extremely reasonable prices including a green curry sauce with scallops, salmon, bamboo shoots and eggplant and a delicious Cornish game hen that is marinated in Laotian herbs. You can order ala carte (all entrée's priced $10 and below) or choose one of the two 4 Course Specials that include soup, appetizer and a choice of Baked Cornish Game Hen, Fisherman Pie (loaded with seafood), Baked Opakapaka or Baked Salmon. There is also a choice of dessert and his luscious creme brulee. The 4 Course Specials do change seasonally, but at under $25, it is a fantastic bargain. Check out what is considered the signature pasty, a chocolate raspberry pyramid, absolutely exquisite. JJ's has no liquor license, so you can bring your own bottle of wine. Open breakfast, lunch and dinner Mon. to Fri. from 9 am to 8 pm, Fri. & Sat. from 9 am to 9 pm, Sun. from noon to 6 pm. Reservations recommended for dinner.
