The opening of Formaggio Grill was delayed almost 1-1/2 years because of permit problems, but finally they were able to open their doors to lovers of good food and wine on the Windward side in January 2008. A much larger space than the original Formaggio Wine Bar (and a much larger kitchen), the Grill features a full menu of soups and salads, excellent thin crust pizzas and paninis served with musclun greens or shoestring fries, including the unforgettable Kobe Burger. There is a great selection of steaks and more, including the clever Kobe Burger Wellington (really delicious), Full or Half Rack of Lamb, fresh island fish and seafood, hot pot classics including Osso Bucco Milanaise and a tender Duck Cassoulet. They also have included some of the small plates of the wine bar. So, if you want to see the other side of the island and perhaps spend time at beautiful Kailua Beach, check out this new eatery that is already receiving rave reviews. Open Mon. to Thurs. from 5 pm to midnight; Fri. and Sat. from 5 pm to 2 am.
