Sansei has won so many awards, it is difficult to keep track of them, from "Chef of the Year", "Best Sushi", "Best Late Night Dining; Food & Wine Magazine, "Best Insider's Place" and from Bon Appetit, "Our Favorite Asian Restaurants". Part of the locally owned DK Restaurant group, there are 4 other restaurants on Oahu, including d.k. Steak House, Hiroshi Eurasion Tapas, VINO Italian Tapas & Wine Bar and the original Sansei. Bottom line is they get rave reviews from critics locally and nationally and residents who are lucky enough to live on an island that has one of the DK restaurants.

But it's not just sushi that is the star here. Starters go from simple Edamame, lightly salted and boiled soybeans in their shell to the award-wining Panko Crusted Ahi Sashimi Roll, served with Sansei's mild soy Wasabi butter sauce. Or try the Lobster & Blue Crab Ravioli, in a rich truffle butter sauce. Soups & Salads range from a classic Caesar to a Japanese Calamari Salad and from Traditional Miso Soup to a wonderful Seared Ahi Salad. Entrees include assorted fish and seafood, beef, traditional Japanese Shrimp & Vegetable Tempura, pork, chicken and duck. The Sansei's Seafood Pasta is well worth a try with Black Tiger prawns, sweet ocean scallops and Upcountry vegetables wok-tossed with Chinese chow fun noodles in a spicy black bean chili butter. Don't pass up the desserts which are seasonal, including their signature dessert, a Granny Smith Apple Tart with buttery puff pastry topped with fresh Granny Smith apple slices, baked to order and served with vanilla ice cream over homemade warm caramel sauce.

There are over 65 choices of sushi, all freshly made to order. The chefs are well known for their very imaginative creations like the famous Kapalua Butterfly Roll with crab, salmon, shiromi and fresh vegetables and so many other unusual sushi as well as the more traditional. Early Bird Specials are available from 5:30 to 6 pm with 25% off food, with a discount on sushi from 10 pm to 1 am. Sensei Seafood & Sushi Bar also has a location in Kapalua with the basically the same menu.
