The Paia Fish Market is just that, an actual fish market where residents go for fresh fish to cook at home. They also happen to do some cooking on-site and it would be hard to get fresher fish. Inside there are picnic tables, so eating is community-style and probably a max of 25 people can fit at the tables. They are extremely busy during lunch time, so if you can manage to get there before or after, the wait might not be too long. But even if you do have to wait, you'll probably be waiting with surfers and residents and other visitors and the food is definitely worth waiting for.

The Fish & Chips and/or Shrimp & Chips are winners, with a very light batter, served with really great fries. Both the fresh Fish Tacos and quesadillas are very popular, or order up the fresh-catch cooked Cajun-style or some seafood or chicken pastas. They also serve cheeseburgers, hamburgers, lunch and dinner plates, but for the best food, order the fresh fish in whatever form you prefer. They also have both beer and wine available for sale. Open daily from 11 am to 9:30 pm.
