Colleen's at the Cannery is definitely off the road well traveled, but is worth taking the side trip to Haiku to dine at this delightful restaurant. Inside it looks more like a chic restaurant in Manhattan than in the Haiku Cannery Marketplace and many fans feel the food is as good as anything you could get in the Big Apple. The most expensive item on the breakfast menu is under $10 and features a delicious Eggs Benedict, with a choice of either Black Forest Ham, Lox, Veggies or Bacon with oven roasted potatoes. There is a great selection of omelets, pancakes, traditional French toast and really terrific fruit smoothies and various teas and coffees. Lunch offers a large selection of sandwiches, wraps, salads, beef burgers from Maui Cattle Company (hormone free) that are extremely popular and Fish & Chips, which get, and deserve, rave reviews, made with Mahi Mahi and served with fries and great tartar sauce - for $2 more you can add a pint of beer on top and still be under $10.

Dinner is where Colleen's culinary talents shine with such entrees as Pepper Crusted Mahi or Ono Burger, a delicious Vodka Penne Pasta with sautéed chicken, a wonderful Filet Mignon with hand cut French fries, green beans and a port wine sauce and the signature dish that keeps patrons returning again and again, the Portabello Mushroom Pasta fettuccine with light white wine sauce, green beans and seasonal market veggies, roasted garlic and shallots. For those who want something a little more casual you can opt for the House Combo Pizzas, served in three sizes. There are 10 types of pizza to choose from, including one Vegan and one Vegetarian. Of course, you do have the option to create your own pizza with a large assortment of add-ons. Happy hour is from 3:30 to 5:30 pm and tap beer is below $3 with a beer and slice of pizza, under $5. During this time you can also get a hamburger or fish burger, fish and chips and salads. And if the beet salad is available, order it as it's probably the best you'll ever taste. There is a nice wine selection available by the bottle or glass. The restaurant is out of the way, but well worth a visit. Open daily from 6 am to 10 pm
