Located in the middle of nowhere as such, on the road to Lahaina (about 4 miles south), Chez Paul is a beautiful classic French restaurant. Owner and Chef de Cuisine, Patrick Callarec has created an oasis of luxury in the décor and pure heaven in his food. Close your eyes and you could be in the finest restaurant in Lyon or Paris dining on food that is exquisitely prepared and served. Chez Paul is a celebrated restaurant that draws not only local residents, but visiting Hollywood celebrities and visitors from all over the world. With old brick walls, crystal chandeliers, soothing colors and artwork covering the walls, the restaurant itself is simply lovely. Crisp white linens and simple flowers are the epitome of French dining.

The menu is extensive and includes all the classics with cold Hors D'Oeuvres such as Foie Gras, homemade duck country pate, an unbelievably delicious cold Vichyssoise and Beluga Caviar. Some of the choices of the hot Hors D'Oeuvres include a beautiful Cappuccino of lobster bisque with cognac, a classic French Onion Soup, traditional Burgundy Escargots and Brie and wild mushrooms baked in a flaky puff pastry served with a vintage Port wine sauce. There are four salads to choose from and it really doesn't matter which one, as they are all excellent.

There are three to four seafood/fish entrees, all done to perfection and classic French entrees such as Tournedos Aux Trois Poives with filet mignon and a pink, green and black peppercorn brandy cream sauce; Coq Au Vin; Rack of Colorado lamb with a Paniolo (Hawaiian cowboy) marinade and exotic fruit chutney along with other choices. Of course, being a French restaurant, the desserts range from Crepes Suzettes for two prepared tableside (notify server at beginning of the meal), to Clafoutis, a classic cobbler baked hot and sweet with Maui apple bananas and coconut ice cream, as well as a selection of four different imported cheeses. This is an expensive restaurant, but those who dine there feel it is worth every penny - for the ambiance, the service and always, for the food. Reservations highly recommended. Open for dinner daily from 5:30 to 9 pm; Sunday also from 11 am to 2:30 pm.
