On May 1, 2008, Hawaii interisland airfare on Hawaiian Airlines will be increasing by $5 to $20 per way in response to the continuing rise of operating costs, especially jet fuel. Hawaii interisland airfare between Honolulu and Kona or Hilo will rise by an additional $5 due to the length of these interisland flights.
Effective for travel from June 10, 2008, Hawaiian Airlines will begin assessing a $25 fee per way for passengers checking in a second piece of luggage on domestic flights between the Continental U.S. and Hawaii. The fee is not applicable for Hawaii interisland flights or transpacific international flights to the Philippines, Australia, American Samoa and Tahiti.
