Effective for tickets purchased on or after Sept. 5, 2008, Continental Airlines will charge a $15 fee, each way, for the first bag checked on or after Oct. 7, 2008. The fee applies to domestic economy class tickets within Continental's domestic system (U.S., Canada, Puerto Rico, and U.S. Virgin Islands), with the exceptions noted below. This fee is in addition to the $25 fee, each way, second bag fee.
Exceptions to the new baggage fee include: Coach customers on Y fare (two free bags allowed) OnePass Elite customers regardless of fare (two free bags allowed) SkyTeam Elite customers regardless of fare (two free bags allowed) Elite for a Day (EFAD) customers (two free bags) Active Military personnel traveling on orders (three free bags) First Class or BusinessFirst ustomers regardless of elite level or fare (three free bags)
