King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel is a 2-star property located ocean front in Kailua-Kona, a once favored vacationing spot for Hawaiian royalty. The spacious lobby is home to over 28 shops and boutiques, along with a staff that provides guest with warm island hospitality. The property is located on a beautiful cove that is safe for swimming.
The pool and whirlpool spa offer a great view of Kamakahonu Bay and poolside Billfish Bar, a great place to pick up a drink or light appetizer. The on-site Ola Mai Ka Lani Massage offers authentic Hawaiian Lomi Lomi, hot stone and foot soaks and massages. There are also separate saunas for men and women and Hawaiian Cultural activity center that offers lei making, hula lessons and Hawaiian history classes.
Other property amenities include laundry facilities, say day laundry/dry cleaning services, concierge desk, beauty salon, parking (fee) and the Mall Shops, featuring boutiques, the Made on the Big Island Outlet and a convenience store, a handy place to pick up snacks and beverages. There are also four tennis courts, beach services and a Travel Desk that can arrange anything from deep sea fishing to horseback riding.
The 460 guestrooms are separated into two six-story towers, joined by the lobby and shopping mall. All rooms feature a private furnished lanai/balcony and come with either two Double beds or one King bed with a mini twin bed. Room choices include Standard on the lower floors; Partial Ocean on the upper floors with a view of Kamakahonu Bay; and Oceanfront with full views of the ocean, beach and the bay.
Room amenities include a full bath, cable TV with pay-per-view-movies, clock radio, in-room safe (fee), mini refrigerator, complimentary toiletries, digital telephone with data port, voicemail and electronic keycards.
The Kona Beach Restaurant at King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel has been designated "Favorite Hotel Restaurant - Neighbor Island" by the Honolulu Advertiser in 2000, 2001 and 2004. The restaurant offers casual dining with a fantastic view, each table looking out over the ocean and Kamakahonu Bay, open for breakfast Monday to Saturday from 6 to 10am; Sunday Brunch 9am to 1pm; and dinner on Friday and Saturday from 5:30 to 9pm.
The poolside Billfish Bar serves a great selection of appetizers and tropical drinks from 11am to 9pm daily. Every Tuesday and Saturday evening, Hawaiian musicians provide live entertainment to accompany the magnificent sunset. The Island Breeze Luau is held every Sunday and Tuesday through Friday, featuring a large buffet, food cooked in an imu (underground oven) and live entertainment.
Note: The hotel will begin renovations on the West Tower on June 1, 2008. The luau grounds and restaurant, as well as the East Tower will remain open during the renovation process and the hotel will make every effort for their guests comfort.
