The 3-star Holua Resort at the Mauna Loa Village features one and two bedroom condo units in two-story wooden buildings painted a blue to match the sky. The condo is surrounded by manicured lawns, lava rock pools, fountains and tropical gardens. There are no elevators, but the walk up the stairs is definitely worth the view.
The condos follow the color scheme of blue and add some green to it to create extremely cheerful and, needless to say, colorful, interior design to the units. Each spacious unit comes with private furnished lanais or patios and a full kitchen with everything you need to prepare a light snack to a full sit-down dinner. Amenities include washer and dryers, Cable TV, telephone, hair dryer, in-room safe (fee), free local phone calls, ceiling fans, voice mail, DVD player, VCR, clock radio, high speed internet access (fee) and more.
There is no on-site restaurant, the nearest about a quarter of a mile away at the Kona Country Club called the Vista Restaurant, serving breakfast all day, sandwich and salads for lunch and steak & seafood dinners. The Holua is also fairly close to the Sheraton Keauhou where you can have a cocktail and watch the sunset, then go to the viewing area to watch the areas Manta Rays return from their forays in the ocean, quite a remarkable sight. A shopping center is nearby with a grocery store for items to make breakfast or any other meals, maybe saving money for those tropical cocktails and sunset watching.
The Holua Resort has 8 small swimming pools, outdoor Jacuzzi spas, barbeque grills for moonlight dining, a fitness center, tennis courts, laundry facilities, dry cleaning, complimentary covered parking and the nearby Kealakekua Bay, which is a snorkel and scuba lover's dream come true.
The location is great for seeing all parts of the island and the condos are very popular with many return visitors. Come see for yourself why so many people want to come back again.
