Seattle Markets

The Pike Place Market
Is a nine-acre National Historic District and home to more than 100 farmers, 200 artists and craftspeople, over 250 small businesses, 500 residents and at least 50 street performers - they may perform only where there is a musical note painted on the sidewalk. It is the nation's oldest continually working farmer's market (since 1907) and it should not be missed during a trip to Seattle. With its uneven cobblestone streets, the market is an open-air celebration of fresh regional vegetable and fruits, herbs and seafood, cheese and handcrafted work by artisans, eclectic shops and many wonderful restaurants. Wandering through the stalls and shops of Pike Place Market is an experience you'll long remember.

The University District Farmers Market
Is the largest "farmers only" of the many neighborhood markets taking place in Seattle. Open from May 6 to December 30, 2006, the market features a wide variety of fresh produce, fruits and vegetables, farmstead cheeses, meats and poultry, fresh bread and other baked goods, preserves and condiments from local farm-grown products. Of course you can't bring back any fresh fruit to Hawaii, but you can certainly buy an apple for a snack and experience what it is like to eat one that was just picked. Open Sat. from 9 am to 2 pm.

The Broadway Farmers Market
Features all that wonderful produce, seafood, flowers and more as well as cooking demonstrations and live music throughout the day. Open Sundays from May 14 to November 19, 2006 from 11 am to 3 pm.
