Disneyland® Resort, the “Happiest Place on Earth”, is one of Hawaii’s favorite vacation destinations. Located in balmy California in the city of Anaheim, Disneyland® is a magical destination that travelers of all ages will love. Two amazing parks, the Disneyland® Park and Disney’s California Adventure® Park, are located directly across from each other, connected by a large central plaza.
Once you step through the turnstile of Disneyland® Park, you will feel as if you’ve entered a new world; colorful Disney Characters stroll down the street and stop to have a picture taken with excited children; whimsical retail outlets line the main road selling candy, souvenirs, jewelry and much more; and large fantastical structures rise above the landscape. At the center of the park is a statue of Walt Disney and everyone’s favorite mouse. From there, you can travel to eight separate locales, each with its own theme and attractions. Become part of an ill-fated science experiment in a terrific 4-D show called “Honey I Shrunk the Audience” in Tomorrowland®; see Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean ride in Adventureland®; or meet Mickey in person at his house in Toontown®. The number of attractions at the Disneyland® Park is almost endless; you’ll need more than just a few days to enjoy everything it has to offer. Don’t miss the wonderful Parade of Dreams featuring colorful floats and Disney Characters or the fireworks spectacular above the Sleeping Beauty Castle at night.
Disney’s California Adventure® Park is geared towards an older crowd, featuring fast rides and delicious dining options. Take a wet and wild ride on the Grizzly River Rapids, plunge down an elevator shaft on the Tower of Terror or be thrilled on the famous California Screamin’ roller coaster. Be sure to take part in some great wine tasting and visit the vineyard room located at Seasons of the Vine. This is not to say that this park features nothing for kids; take a tour of the Disney Animation Studio to get a behind the scenes look or experience the ongoing plight of bugs in the “Its Tough to Be a Bug!” 4-D show. There is a large selection of dining options in the park including a fantastic Mexican grill, a wharf-side café and a great ice cream parlor. For an event not to be missed, the popular Electric Lights Parade starts at the Sunshine Plaza after dark. Half-a-million colored light bulbs choreographed in sync with a memorable soundtrack will be something you’ll always remember.
Disneyland® is a place that everyone should visit at least once in their lives, whether it’s with parents, kids, siblings or friends. Magic is something real at Disneyland®, for sure. Where else can you take your children to meet all of their favorite Disney Characters in person? Where else can you forget about being a grown-up and reclaim the joys of childhood? Where else can you go to wear goofy hats with light-up ears, wield magic faerie wands and don bug-vision glasses? Only in Disneyland®, truly the “Happiest Place on Earth.”
