Logo: Disney Cruises

Disney Cruise Line is not only for the young, but the young at heart. How could you not love a ship that has Sorcerer Mickey Mouse standing at the bow and Goofy painting at the stern? When you see that, you know you're on the Disney Magic, featuring 875 staterooms and a crew of 945. At the same size, the Disney Wonder features Steamboat Willie at the front and Donald Duck & Huey painting at the back.

The interior of Disney Magic is art deco with the slender forms, straight lines and sleekness of modern technology. Disney Wonder features art nouveau with whimsical, swirling wave designs throughout. All the Staterooms are decorated with natural woods and imported tiles and include both a tub and shower. They are quite spacious and sleep up to four easily. Amenities include color TV, cooling box, hair dryer, in-room safe, phone with voice mail and individual climate control as well as a privacy curtain.

For the very young, trained counselors help kids 3 to 12 in some hands-on fun. Disney's Oceaneer Club for ages 3 to 7 features fun and fantasy in a play area designed like Captain Hook's ship. For the 8 to 12 years olds, there is the Disney Oceaneer Lab, where they can explore the universe and beyond in a fantastic lab and interactive play space. For teens 13 to 17, both ships feature teen-only spaces for the teens to gather, have privacy, listen to music, watch movies, connect to the internet, or that favorite of all teen sport, just hang out.

Big people have their perks too. There are three pools, one for families, one for the little ones and one a quiet getaway for adults only. There is also the Spa and Fitness center where you can pamper yourself with spa therapies from around the world, work out or take part in an aerobics or yoga class. Then there is the elegant Palo, a wonderful restaurant that is for adults only, where you can dine by candlelight enjoying Northern Italian cuisine in a most romantic atmosphere. Adults can also enjoy the various nightclubs and lounges that are on both ships and their own private beach at Serenity Bay on Disney's private island, a secluded beach for adults where the only sound is of the waves lapping the shore.

Like almost all cruise lines, the food is not only abundant, but delicious. Each ship has a grand dining room as well as others offering different cuisines, along with snack bars that are open from morning to night. There is shopping on board, including some terrific tax and duty free goods, the Flounder's Reef Nursery for kids 12 weeks to 36 months, staffed by trained Disney counselors, live Broadway-style shows, lots of Disney characters wandering around the decks to have your picture taken with and a state-of-the-art cinema with first-run features and Disney favorites.

Then there is Castaway Bay, Disney's private island paradise in the Bahamas. There is a family beach where you can swim, snorkel, play volleyball in the water or on shore - a true fun filled beach. Even teens have their own beach where they can snorkel and kayak or just kick back. Finally there is Scuttle's Cove for kids 3 to 12, a great place for exploration and discovery.

Unlike what many may think, these are not just cruises for children - adults have as many choices for fun and relaxation as any of the children and if anything, it's perhaps a cruise for those who still have the child within them. So for a vacation you'll always remember, take your family, take your love, take yourself and perhaps experience the sheer joy of being a kid again. Who doesn't like Mickey Mouse?
